Peace Community Preschool in Frankfort Provides Toys to Children - Patch.com

In the spirit of the season, the students and families at Peace Community Preschool in Frankfort are giving to children fighting cancer. The preschool recently hosted a successful holiday toy and gift card drive that brought in toys and $30 in gift cards to benefit the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation.

Peace Community Preschool is a non-profit outreach ministry of Peace Community Church whose mission is to share the love of Christ with young children and their families.

Director of Peace Community Preschool Judy Placzkowski said, "It is always such an honor to promote this toy drive for the Treasure Chest Foundation. The parents appreciate the opportunity to teach their children at such a young age about giving to others and we love to see them all bringing in their toys for other children."

Ms. Kisel expressed her profound gratitude for the generous support shown by the children of Peace Community Preschool. "The Treasure Chest Foundation is especially grateful to Peace Community Preschool for their enormous donation of toys and gift cards," said Ms. Kisel. "Because of their generosity, our Foundation will continue to support 1000's of children and teens monthly well into 2020. God bless the children at Peace Community Preschool."

The POTCF is a unique organization whose services impact more than 14,000 young cancer patients in 59 cancer treatment centers in 20 states across the nation and in the District of Columbia. Nowhere else in the nation does such a program exist. Colleen Kisel founded the organization in 1996 after her then seven-year-old son Martin had been diagnosed with leukemia in 1993. Ms. Kisel discovered that giving her son a toy after each procedure provided a calming distraction from his pain, noting that when children are diagnosed with cancer their world soon becomes filled with doctors, nurses, chemotherapy drugs, surgeries and seemingly endless painful procedures. Martin celebrated his 26th anniversary of remission from the disease in March of 2019.
